The terms on which we accept and fulfil orders for our handmade clarinet bells and barrels.
These terms apply to all orders for our handmade clarinet bells and barrels. By placing an order you agree to them. Orders are accepted by Gerardo Gozzi, trading as Elephant Foot Clarinet Bells & Barrels.
Every piece is turned to order to your chosen specification. Because work begins specifically for you, orders cannot be cancelled or refunded once turning has begun. Please confirm your specification carefully before we start.
Typical lead time is 6–8 weeks, but this varies. Each piece is cut in stages with several weeks' resting time between cuts so the wood can stabilise, and some woods need additional steps such as oiling and drying. Timing also depends on the availability of suitable pre-cut blocks. We will confirm a realistic estimate when you order. Estimated dates are not guarantees.
Prices are shown in GBP. We take a 50% deposit to reserve your place in the workshop schedule, with the balance due on completion, before dispatch. Payment is made by invoice and bank transfer.
Shipping is charged in addition to the price of your piece and is paid by the customer; we confirm the cost before dispatch. We ship worldwide, fully tracked and insured if desired. Import duties, taxes and customs charges are the recipient's responsibility and are not included in our prices.
We check each finished piece to confirm it is made to your requested specification before dispatch. After delivery, you may bring your piece to our London workshop within 100 days for in-person adjustment, free of charge. Because wood can only be removed and never added back, adjustments are limited to enlarging work — opening the bore or easing the mortise.
As pieces are made to order, we do not accept returns for change of mind. This does not affect your legal rights if an item is faulty or not as described. If something is wrong, contact us at elephantfootclarinet@gmail.com and we will try our very best to put it right.
Our pieces are made from natural woods. Variation in grain, colour and figure is inherent to the material and is not a defect. Wood is sensitive to humidity and temperature.
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by us breaking these terms. We are not liable for damage caused by misuse, accident, or failure to follow reasonable care. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
