Order & Delivery

Every Elephant Foot bell and barrel is turned to order. Find out more information about our order and delivery process.

How it works

Enquire
Choose your piece and send an enquiry, or book a complimentary consultation. We confirm the wood, dimensions and bore to suit your instrument and the sound you are chasing.
Reserve
A 50% deposit secures your place in the workshop queue and we begin sourcing and marking out your billet. The balance falls due only once your piece is complete.
We make it
Your bell or barrel is turned, bored and finished entirely by hand. Typical lead time is six to eight weeks, depending on the workshop schedule.
Testing & approval
We test the finished piece and verify it is made exactly to your requested specification — checking dimensions, mortise and bore — before anything ships.
Dispatch
Once the balance is settled, your piece is packed with care and sent fully tracked and insured, signed for on arrival.

Returns & adjustments

Made to order

Because every piece is cut to your specification, we are unable to accept returns once turning has begun.

Before we start

Plans not final? You can amend or cancel your order any time before crafting begins, with your deposit returned in full.

After delivery

Bring your piece to our London workshop within 100 days and we'll refine the fit in person, free of charge. As wood can be opened but never added back, adjustments are limited to enlarging work — easing the bore or mortise until it sits exactly right.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the wood or dimensions after ordering?
Before we begin turning, yes — just let us know. Once work has started, the specification is fixed.
How long will my piece take to make?
Typically 6–8 weeks, though this varies. Each piece is cut in several stages, and between cuts the wood is left to rest for a few weeks so it can stabilise — this resting is essential to the final stability and tone. Some woods also need extra steps such as oiling and drying, and the timeline depends on the availability of suitable pre-cut blocks. We'll confirm a realistic lead time when you order.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes. We ship worldwide, fully tracked and insured. Import duties and local taxes are the recipient's responsibility.
Who pays for shipping?
Shipping is charged in addition to the price of your piece and paid by the customer. We'll confirm the cost before dispatch, with everything fully tracked and insured.
What if the fit isn't quite right?
We adjust in person at our London workshop, free of charge, for up to 100 days. Because material can only be removed and never replaced, every adjustment is an enlarging one — opening the bore or easing the mortise.
How is payment taken?
A 50% deposit secures your place in the workshop; the balance is due once your piece is finished, before it ships.
Can I visit the workshop?
Fittings and visits are welcome by appointment — get in touch and we'll arrange a time.
